Gallery: Our Favourite 2018 Trends

While we remain allured by handmade organic forms and dusty, muted hues, 2018 is likely to see the emergence of bold colours and the rise of the luxe bohemian style. Plus, the comeback of the terrazzo tile and resort-style bathroom.

Earth Tones

While natural forms and organic colours have been en-vouge for some years now, the trends have been mainly leaning towards a grey colour pallette until now. In 2018 we will see a resurgence of warm earth colours, terracotta browns and nude tones. A subtle nod to Australian floral and fauna, rich earthy tones on the floors mix perfectly with textured walls and fabrics.

Terrazzo

Terrazzo was all the rage in the 70’s, the conglomerate stone was everywhere! It has been trickling back in the last 5 years or so, but it looks like 2018 is going to see it really shine. Design fairs around the world have found that Terrazzo is a nice alternative to concrete or marble, it can be subtle or have a striking, bold pattern.

Resort-style Bathrooms

Minimal or industrial style bathrooms really took the lead for the last few years in terms of popularity. This year though, we have seen a return of the spa-like, atmospheric bathroom – something we highly approve of at Tile Mega Mart. This look involves mixing textures and organic materials like wood and stone, favouring comfort over minimalism, and always a touch of greenery and patterned textiles! This look is especially perfect for Sydney and Newcastle homes, as we live so close to the ocean!

Modern Art-esque Colours

Modern Art will forever be an inspiration for all interior design lovers – but this year we have seen an increasing amount of bold colour schemes derived from Modern Art legends, like Picasso, Matisse and Mondrian. Not to mention an emphasised love for hanging bold artworks everywhere in the home, the more the merrier! Our ranges of bold wall tiles from Portobello pick up these colour schemes perfectly.
